The backbone of the reported project is the need to reduce the high unemployment rate of women over the age of 50 who have reduced working potential, with a low educational attainment and difficult to enter the labor market due to insufficiently specialized skills and competencies. Lack of skills and low level of education result in their long-term unemployment, increased social exclusion and poverty. The region Ludbreg is predominantly rural area with a large proportion of the older population in the total population, the project is also aimed at addressing the problems faced by older people. Elderly people are at high risk of poverty, have low incomes, they are in a state of social exclusion and are threatened with institutionalization. Through the reported project, the identified problems are planned to be solved in a way that 20 women will additionally acquire the knowledge and skills that will help them to perform gerontologists’ work for 110 elderly people who need help.
